Stream the New SikTh Album Opacities in Full!

I have run out of hyperboles to describe how important SikTh were/are to the modern progressive metal scene. If there were no SikTh, there’d be no Periphery, Monuments, TesseracT, Vildjharta, The Contortionist, Veil of Maya, Volumes, Uneven Structure, etc, etc etc. You may dislike a lot of those bands (or you may love ’em all), but either way it’s pioneers of a movement that so often do a thing best but don’t get the credit. Which isn’t to say we should reductively boil SikTh’s sound down to “djent;” it’s got a lot of elements that would later go on to become djent, but it certainly isn’t in its own right.

So it is highly imperative that you bow down and RESPECT the fact that this seminal band is releasing a new album, Opacities — their first in nearly ten years — and pay attention to how the masters do it. Independent has the stream, and now you do too, below. The album comes out tomorrow, December 5th, and can be ordered here. UK tour dates below.
