Killswitch Engage - Incarnate

Hello MetalSucks reader! Welcome to Shit That Comes Out Today, your Satanic bible of this week’s heavy new releases. We list ‘em, we spotlight ‘em, we link you to their preview jams and full streams — and we usually stick ‘em in a fancy Spotify playlist too (below) — all for your jammage! Now crank this shit up.

Delve Into The Mysteries Of Transcendence (I, Voidhanger)
On a playlist with: Howls Of Ebb, Skáphe, Cirith Gorgor
Listen Delve Into The Mysteries Of Transcendence full stream (here)

Normally, bands who want you to delve into the mysteries of transcendence don’t tell you that up front. Nevertheless, do not be “susprialed” when you find out that Delve Into The Mysteries Of Transcendence is composed of three achingly chaotic tracks. Each one burns and sizzles like xenomorph blood through spaceship steel. Each are disgusting, nasty, and your patience will be tested. You got what it takes?

Obsidian KingdomObsidian Kingdom
A Year With No Summer (Season Of Mist)
On a playlist with: Spektr + The Ruins Of Beverast + Thomas Giles
Listen A Year With No Summer full stream (here)

Summer’s canceled? Fuck that shit! Even if it wasn’t, you’d spend the whole time inside soaking into A Year With No Summer. It’s a progressive album not afraid of itself — clear-cut and mechanical, but dark and foreboding. It’s the mood music for when you’re in no particular mood, but know you should be in a mood, because summer’s canceled, fuck that shit.

gadget - the great destroyerGadget
The Great Destroyer (Relapse)
On a playlist with: Cult Leader, The Drip, Gridlink
Listen The Great Destroyer full stream (here)

Grind for one, grind for all: The Great Destroyer is a grind album you can share with your friends! The Great Destroyer feels like grind plus. Perhaps purists won’t like the blackened bits, or the slower bits, maybe there is a broader appeal — but think of it this way: you gotta grind before you grind. Though TGD is no beginner’s garden tool. Like the hatchet, it’s easy to use (hard to use well), and chops up your asshole neighbor’s bushes into salad.

Struggle (Equal Vision)
On a playlist with: His Statue Falls, Chunk! No Captain Chunk!, These Kids Wear Crowns
Listen “Eat Your Heart Out” (ah geez)

You know, if you concentrate really hard — really, really hard — you can find decent musical expressions in the multi-layered, organic forms nestled within the polyphonic biorhythm of ukulele-driven phantoms … Well, actually no you can’t. Music is getting worse. The world is getting worse. The Struggle is real.

·

Panopticon : WaldgeflusterPanopticon / Waldgefluster
split (Nordvis)
On a playlist with: Obsequiae, Wolves In The Throne Room, Werner Herzog’s Happy People
Listen Panopticon / Waldgefluster split full stream (here)

Higher praises/fists could not be raised for Panopticon, who by the way are/is performing for the first time live at Migration Fest this August. Really. And Waldgefluster is no slouch either. Together, these powerful forces combine to great a true fucking Megazord of foresty black metal. Few musicians can avoid being spoiled by the raptures of fame. Leave it for time to tell; for now, enjoy as you do.

Skáphe² (I, Voidhanger)
On a playlist with: Skáphe, Howls Of Ebb, suffering
Listen Skaphe² full stream (here)

Arguably less infernal than SkápheSkáphe² keeps the trend real: chamber echoes, rock-bottom chaos riffs, and complete suffocation. Read: complete suffocation. This suffices as a soundtrack to Kafka’s resurrection, or perhaps the snuffing of the entire world once and for all. Regardless, there is pure beauty in pure pandemonium, so why not suckle on it from the source.
