Here are Some Previews of Behemoth Frontman Nergal’s Country/Folk Project

0

Behemoth frontman Nergal has been teasing a “blues, country and folk” side project for well over a year now, which he described as “the most primitive, acoustic-based stuff.” Sounds interesting! It’s fun when metal musicians step outside their comfort zones and experiment with different genres. Is there a chance it ends up being terrible? Sure, but I’ll give a man with Nergal’s track record and artistry the benefit of the doubt: I think it’s gonna be good, or at the very least interesting.

Nergal’s been giving Behemoth fans periodic tastes of what the album has in store. Back in February he posted a couple of clips from the studio, and this week he’s been sharing quick videos from the project’s official music video shoot.

So far all of this lends credence to our own Emperor Rhombus’s assertion that the project has a very Johnny Cash / Nick Cave kind of vibe, much darker than the classic “Americana” that might come to mind when the word “country” is in play. And that makes a whole lot of sense: it’s Nergal, after all… the dude is fucking dark!
