Exclusive Track Premiere: Ilenkus, “Hunny Bunny”
Over the last few years, Galway’s Ilenkus have been building a steady fanbase around Ireland’s metal scene, and with the forthcoming release of Hunger, an EP that showcases the band at their darkest and most bombastic, these boys are ready to conquer the rest of the world.
Mastered by Brad Boatright of Nails and Old Man Gloom fame, this third release for the band sees them move in a more passionately violent direction. While the band’s last release The Crossing was plenty pissed-off sounding, they’ve skipped some of the more experimental interludes here for straighforward heaviness, and the results are fantastic.
Today we’ve got the exclusive stream for the EP’s first track, “Hunny Bunny.” A nut-grabbing explosion of raw violence and grinding post-hardcore, this song brings to mind Axe to Fall-era Converge with just enough Botch-inspired math bits thrown in to keep you on your toes. Vinyl production issues have postponed the release date, you can keep up to date via their Facebook page.
