Trent Reznor Hints New Nine Inch Nails Music Could Still Come This Year

0

In December of last year, Trent Reznor posted on Twitter in no uncertain terms: “New NIN coming in 2016. Other stuff, too.”

The “other stuff” part, we can presume, referred to “Juno,” the song Reznor released with Atticus Ross to celebrate the arrival of NASA’s Juno spacecraft on Jupiter after a four-year-long journey.

As for NIN, there was this rumor that surfaced over the summer that seemed to give strong credence to an NIN song called “Dive and Slam” being released in September. Reznor denied it the next day, and September came and went without any music.

BUT: there is still hope despite the fact that 2016 is quickly coming to a close, at least as far as music release schedules — which are typically planned far in advance — are concerned. The PRP reports that a fan asked Reznor via an undisclosed Instagram post if he still planned on releasing new NIN music in 2016, and he actually replied: “2016 is not over yet.”

Big spoonful of salt time: the above originated on Reddit, which isn’t necessarily the most reliable news source (although rumors which first surfaced there have certainly ended up being true in the past), and the actual Instagram post on which the comment was allegedly left hasn’t been revealed (could be shady, could also just be private). Plus we’ve already been faked out once this year.

On the other hand, I’m always a big sucker for these kinds of rumors — cough TOOL cough — and I WANT TO BELIEVE. Hopefully we’ll be streaming new NIN music into our earholes sooner rather than later.
