Break Out the Cocaine and Stream Steel Panther’s Lower the Bar

  • Axl Rosenberg

It’s extremely rare that a band satirizing a certain style of music is also the best band making that kind of music. But like the creature after which they are named, Steel Panther are a rare breed. Glam is basically a dead art; even the bands that were once really, really good at it are now mostly terrible. Steel Panther’s lyrics and antics are hilarious, but there ain’t nuthin’ funny about their abilities as musicians.

My point being, you can enjoy Steel Panther’s new album, Lower the Bar, as a mockery of the ’80s Hollywood bands you hate or as a celebration of the ’80s Hollywood bands you love, and it will work either way.

Stream Lower the Bar below. It comes out tomorrow, Friday, March 24 on Kobalt. Pre-order it here.
