The Gorburger Show is a Talk Show Basically Made for Metalheads

There’s an overwhelming amount of content out there. A deluge of Netflix specials, cool memes, subcultural detritus, stuff like that. So much so that even a devout late night talk show and TJ Miller fan (Silicon ValleyTransformers, etc.) such as myself had never heard of The Gorburger Show, which is maybe even more relevant to MetalSucks readers’ interests than The Eric Andre Show.

Here’s the premise: Gorburger (voiced by Miller, character named after Al Gore) is a furry blue alien who crash lands in a Japanese daytime talk show studio. He kills and eats the host. Sometimes kills and eats crew members. Decides that he wants a show, becomes the new host. His bloodlust rarely abates, so he continues to eat crew members.

The result is one of the weirdest things I’ve ever seen — pretty funny, but more surreal than anything else.

This show began its life as a Funny or Die webseries before notching a full order from Comedy Central, which has slipped under the radar in its first season. Given our current late night scene — other than Eric Andre — is stuffed full of Trump, Gorburger is a bizarre breath of fresh air.

Past guests include Henry Rollins, Jack Black, Flea, The Eagles of Death Metal, and a bunch of other people you’re probably interested in, so check out a couple of episodes below:
