Video: System of a Down’s Serj Tankian Performs “Like a Stone” with Audioslave Members

Chris Cornell’s legacy with Soundgarden has been highly celebrated since his tragic death but somewhat lost in the shuffle has been his work with Audioslave, with whom he made three albums over seven years and performed live hundreds of times.

Cornell’s bandmates in Audioslave — Tom Morello, Brad Wilk and Tim Commerford, all also of Rage Against the Machine — now play in Prophets of Rage alongside Public Enemy’s Chuck D and Cypress Hill’s B-Real. At the latter’s performance last night (June 3rd) at the Rock im Park festival in Nuremberg, Germany, the group invited Serj Tankian of System of a Down — who were also performing at the fest — on stage for a rendition of Audioslave’s biggest hit, “Like a Stone,” in remembrance of Cornell.

You can watch fan-filmed footage of that performance below. I’m loving Serj’s voice on this track — very powerful. I’d also forgotten about Tom Morello’s guitar solo on this one; utterly gorgeous in its simplicity.
