The Sword Guitarist Recorded Pink Floyd Tribute Doom Side of the Moon, “Money” Cover Streaming

Doom Side of the MoonMetal and Pink Floyd have always gone together like two nuts in a sack; even though Floyd aren’t metal or even close to it, good luck finding a metal band in which at least one member wasn’t hugely influenced by them.

Now, joining the all-metal tribute to The Wall coming sometime in the near future that will feature Pallbearer, Melvins, ASG and more comes another full Floyd covers album, this time a heavied up version of Dark Side of the Moon arranged by The Sword guitarist Kyle Shutt. Entitled Doom Side of the Moon, the album will also feature Shutt’s Sword bandmates Bryan Richie (bass) and Santiago Vela III (drums) alongside vocalist Alex Marrero (Brownout/Brown Sabbath), saxophonist Jason Grey (Black Joe Lewis) and keyboardist Joe Cornetti (Croy & The Boys).

Shutt’s released the album cut of “Money,” which you can listen to below. It’s exactly what I’d hope for from something like this: true enough to the original that it’s recognizable, but with plenty of modifications that make it completely unique.

Doom Side of the Moon comes out on August 4th and can be pre-ordered here. Those in the Austin area can see the band perform the album live on August 5th at Emo’s.
