The New Myrkur Song “Två Kongunbarn” is Scandinavian Folk, Not Metal at All (Time to Get ANGRY!!!!)
Danish black metal artist Myrkur has been hinting that her next album will have a much greater Scandinavian folk influence, and boy, she wasn’t kidding: her new single “Två Kongunbarn” pretty much has nothing to do with black metal.
Naturally this will cause idiots across the metalnets to flip the fuck out, since a whole lot of men already have a major issue with the fact that someone with a vagina is making black metal… and excellent black metal, at that. But this will only embolden those assholes who doubt every woman’s cred and dedication to metal and whose boys club is being threatened.
As for me? I think it’s fucking rad. I dig that Myrkur is exploring her roots and pushing the boundaries of what a metal artist can do. Bring it on, I say.
Myrkur’s new album Mareridt will come out later this year via Relapse.
