Listen to Motörhead’s Cover of David Bowie’s “Heroes”

I’ve of two minds about this newly-released Motörhead cover of David Bowie’s classic, “Heroes.” On the one hand… it’s Motörhead covering David Bowie!!! What’s not to like? On the other hand, it’s a fairly faithful recreation of the original, which is not all that exciting.  It certainly would have been more interesting to hear the band turn Bowie’s song into the kind of obnoxious noise for which they were known.

But still… did I mention it’s Motörhead covering David Bowie?

Check out Motörhead’s David Bowie’s “Heroes” below, via Rolling Stone. The track — one of the last the band ever recorded together — will appear on Under Cöver, which, as you can probably guess, is a collection of covers. Other covers on the release include Metallica’s “Whiplash,” Judas Priest’s “Breaking the Law,” the Rollings Stones’ “Jumpin’ Jack Flash” and “Sympathy for the Devil,” the Sex Pistols’ “God Save the Queen,” The Ramones’ “Rockaway Beach,” and “Cat Scratch Fever,” which is by some guy whose name escapes me right now. It comes out September 1.
