Yob Announce New Album and Tour with Bell Witch!
The last we heard of Yob frontman/guitarist Mike Scheidt’s harrowing battle with acute diverticulitis, he was well into his recovery process and recounting a near-death experience he had while on the operating room table. That was back in December, and we’ll assume that no news since then is good news: what Scheidt was dealing with sounded beyond awful.
More good news today: Scheidt is confident enough in his future health to announce not only a new album, but a month-long North American tour in support of it. Recording an album would be one thing — never an easy feat, but one that can at least be done close to home — while tours can be grinding, miserable experiences away from the comforts of everyday life. But Scheidt won’t let any of that get him down!
The new album will be called Our Raw Heart and will come out June 8th via Relapse Records. Scheidt offers:
“We’re very excited to share this new music. We gave it everything we have. Going from an uncertain future in the beginning of 2017, to writing and then recording a new album at the end of it, it was quite a year. We’re very grateful. We’re looking forward to hitting the road again and celebrating decibels and good cheer with friends worldwide. Can’t wait.”
Doom-bringers Bell Witch (why is doom always paired with the word “bringers?”) will open the trek, a very nice bonus. Here are dates:
