Deftones’ Chino Moreno Covers Bananarama‘s “Cruel Summer” with Death Valley High

Deftones Fanboy Club HQ reports that a 2015 collaborative cover between Deftones frontman Chino Moreno and Death Valley High of Banarama’s “Cruel Summer” has now finally seen the light of day three years after its planned release.

The track is available on a playlist from Methodic Artists, who represent Moreno, Puscifer and others, and you can check it out below roughly three-quarters of the way down.

The cover is an atmospheric, piano and electronic-based rendition that strays pretty far from the original, but in an interesting, very Chino-esque way. It’s also abbreviated at just two-and-a-half minutes long. We’ll include Bananarama’s version for reference as well.
