Just Say “Yas” to the New Polyphia Song (Featuring Chon)
Polyphia are heirs apparent to groups like Animals as Leaders and Scale the Summit, proud carriers of both the Instrumental Prog-Metal Torch and the Not Giving a Fuck About Tradition Torch. If you’re still not hip to them, or are somehow confused as to why they’re The Next Big Thing, you really need to watch the video for their new single, “Yas.”
And I do mean watch the video — don’t just hit ‘play’ and open another window. The song, which features guest spots from Chon’s Mario Camarena and Erick Hansel, is great, and the clip, directed by Patrick Lawler and Cameron Alexander, is an excellent example of how to make something simple yet entertaining and effective. Both are worth your time.
“Yas” will appear on Polyphia’s new album, New Levels New Devils, which drops October 12 on Equal Vision. Pre-orders are here. The band kicks off a tour of North America in early October, supported by Hail the Sun and Covet. Dates are as follows:
