Ozzy Osbourne Hospitalized, Undergoes Surgery, Show Postponed

Ozzy Osbourne’s show tonight (October 6th) in Mountain View, CA has been postponed. The 69-year-old singer is “being treated for an infection” and had surgery on his hand this morning, according to an official statement posted on Ozzy’s website. The cause and nature of the infection haven’t been made public.

Look: whatever infection Ozzy’s got doesn’t seem to be too serious, but at his age — especially given all the notorious wear and tear on his body — any kind of health issue that requires a hospitalization can get real scary in a hurry. We’re glad the old coot seems to be doing alright.

Tonight’s show has been rescheduled for Tuesday, October 16th. As the make up date will take place after the previously scheduled final show in Las Vegas, NV of his current “No More Tours 2” run, the tour’s opening act — Stone Sour — will not be available and a new support act has yet to be announced.  The tour’s next scheduled date is October 9th in Chula Vista, CA, and Ozzy plans to spend the next couple of days in the hospital recuperating.

The official statement reads in full:

“OZZY OSBOURNE’s Saturday, October 6 show at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, CA is being postponed due to illness. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and Grammy®-winning singer and songwriter is being treated for an infection, which required surgery on his hand this morning (Saturday, October 6). OSBOURNE will spend a couple of days at Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles where he’ll remain under doctor’s care as they monitor the infection. The show is part of OZZY’s North American “NO MORE TOURS 2,” produced by Live Nation, and is expected to resume on Tuesday, October 9 at Mattress Firm Amphitheatre in Chula Vista before this leg of the tour wraps with shows at the Hollywood Bowl (October 11) in Los Angeles and Las Vegas (October 13) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Stone Sour will perform on these three shows.

“The October 6 show has been rescheduled for Tuesday, October 16 (support act for the new date is TBA). Ticketholders for the October 6 show should hold on to their tickets, as they will be honored at the rescheduled date on October 16. Refunds are also available at point of purchase.”
