Woodstock Is Coming Back

0

Put on your rose-colored glasses for a moment and think back to 1969. Fringe. Flower power. Free-thinking hippies. Oh yeah, and Woodstock.

Between the smelly crowds, the overflowing toilets, the litter, and the rain, Woodstock’s only redeeming qualities were the cheap acid and the siqqqq lineup featuring The Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Jimi Hendrix et al. And those two things alone were thought to make everyone in the history of ever wish they’d had a chance to attend the iconic festival.

Fast forward 30 years to the literal dumpster fire of Woodstock ’99, a.k.a. Nü Metal Extravaganza. Actually, don’t. Nobody wants to think about that.

So I guess trying to resurrect the Woodstock name again is a good idea? Live Nation seems to think so. They’re working with communications industry INVNT to make the festival happen at the original location, Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, from August 16th-18th. They’ve promised a series of “brand activations” to boot. How authentic.

Why won’t people just let this damn festival die?!?! I mean, yeah, the name is great for marketing, and who knows, maybe Woodstock 2019 could go down as mankind’s greatest accomplishment. Stay tuned.
