Dream Theater Announce 20th Anniversary Scenes From a Memory Tour and Reveal New Album Title, Cover ArtworkDream Theater keyboardist Jordan Rudess revealed in an interview last week that the band would release their new album in February of 2019, and now that album has a title, Distance Over Time, and cover artwork (above). There’s a 30-second teaser of new music you can hear as well, embedded below, and so far so good (though judging new Dream Theater on 30 seconds of music is like judging the hair quality of a man who’s got a hat on). While the band is looking forward to new music, they’re also looking back at their catalogue: they’ve announced a tour for spring 2019 that will celebrate the 20th anniversary of Scenes From a Memory, considered by many (this fan included) to be the band’s crowning achievement. It’s odd to think of the band performing that album without Mike Portnoy behind the kit given how instrumental he was in its creation, but so it is — I’m still amped on the idea of this tour. They’ve only announced dates and cities so far, but presumably venues will be revealed soon:
