Watch: Creed’s “Higher” Played with Blast Beats

Some things are too sacred to desecrate. Creed songs do not fall into that category.

So while I can’t say what sequence of events led to sometimes-Decrepit Birth drummer / always-YouTube-funnyman Samus Paulicelli jamming along to Creed’s “Higher” during a Twitch stream this past weekend, I am not surprised in the slightest that he peppered in some blast beats to the song’s iconic (for better or worse) chorus to entertain himself. His own amusement is also yours and mine, so have a look at the clip below, in which he utilizes the so-called “Dirk Blast” (named after ex-Soilwork / current Megadeth drummer Dirk Verbeuren) to make Creed’s music sounds like it has never sounded before.

For what its worth, Creed axeman (and Alter Bridge guitarist) Mark Tremonti grew up on extreme metal and verifiably knows his shit. Proof underneath the Samus vid!
