Ghost’s Tobias Forge Picks His Dream Metallica Setlist

At the end of the day, professional metal musicians — every really super-duper famous ones, like Ghost mastermind Tobias Forge — are still just huge dorks like the rest of us. By which I mean, they’re passionate about the music and their favorite bands, and they have their own quirky opinions born from years of personal experience, just like you and me and everyone else who loves metal.

So you’ll likely be interested to check out Forge’s dream setlist for Metallica, as conveyed to Metal Hammer. Yeah, at the end of the day, it’s Metallica, so no matter who writes the setlist, there are bound to be a whole lotta old standards. But there are definitely a few surprises on here, like an encore with two covers, an unexpected Black Album entry (“Enter Sandman” being the ‘no duh’ pick), and that one Load song where the group aped Salt N’ Pepa.

Check out Forge’s selections below (complete with an encore). Go here to read his explanations for each choice.

“Creeping Death”

“Of Wolf and Man”

“Welcome Home (Sanitarium)”

“Fight Fire with Fire”

“Ride the Lightning”

“For Whom the Bell Tolls”

“Fade to Black”

“Until It Sleeps”

“Master of Puppets”

“Am I Evil?”

“Last Caress”
