Megadeth’s Dave Ellefson Releases New Solo Track “Hammer Comes Down”

0

Megadeth bassist-in-chief Dave Ellefson has released a solo track called “Hammer Comes Down.” The song appears on Sleeping Giants, the musical accompaniment to Ellefson‘s new memoir, More Life With Deth.

And… yeesh, guys, I dunno. On the one hand, it’s definitely got Dave’s musical imprint on it: it sounds just like the bass player from Megadeth wrote it. And the guest guitar work by his ex-Megadeth bandmate Chris Poland and Alter Bridge axeman Mark Tremonti is decent. On the other hand, the screamed vocal sections are rough, completely lacking in dynamic, with both Ellefson’s EMP Label Group business partner Thom Hazaert and Eric AK lending their vocals to the track (not sure which one of those fellows does the screamed parts). Overall, the track is just not particularly good or memorable.

But perhaps you disagree, as you all are so often wont to do. Listen below, and hear for yourself. More Life With Deth and Sleeping Giants come out on July 16th.
