Shadow of Intent Drop Devastatingly Heavy New Song “Malediction”

0

Sure seems as if Shadow of Intent have been building up some hype lately, eh? Every time I look up they’re on another killer tour package, and even death metal purists mostly have good things to say about the group despite the fact that the band are most certainly not purists themselves. Credit where it’s due: MS contributor Phil Boozeman called this shit years ago!

So, here’s “Malediction,” Shadow of Intent’s latest single, following “Barren and Breathless Macrocosm,” released last month. While the band is still very much on the high-gloss end of the DM spectrum with spiffy production replete with sound effects and a colossal, crystal clear mix, this recording has balls. What’s more, the band doesn’t rely on deathcore tropes to get their point across, showing they’re plenty capable of slaying without the crutch of breakdowns. Even more impressive, the song’s got a legit hook. More of this, dudes, please!

New album Melancholy comes out on August 16th; order here. Catch Shadow of Intent on tour with Despised Icon, Kublai Kahn and Ingested this fall; dates here.
