Mike Patton and Jean-Claude Vannier Post New Song “Browning”

This whole Corpse Flower project Mike Patton and French composer Jean-Claude Vannier have been teasing since May is a tough one. On one hand, it’s some of the most inventive and, I’m guessing, most artistically satisfying work Mike Patton has put out in quite some time. On the other hand, Faith No More fans have mostly been giving it a collective shrug, from what I’ve seen. Not that Patton likely cares one way or the other what anyone else thinks.

The latest track, “Browning,” is out now, and you can stream it below. For what it’s worth, I happen to think it’s great! I love hearing Patton’s voice in any shape or form, and I especially enjoy it when it’s a bit outside the metal box. Corpse Flower comes out on September 13th via Patton’s own label Ipecac; pre-order here.

Patton recently announced a string of reunion shows with Mr. Bungle that sold out instantly.
