Abysmal Dawn Drop First New Song in Six Years, “Hedonist,” and Announce North American Tour

After waiting six years, fans will receive a brand new album from Los Angeles death metal prodigies Abysmal Dawn on April 17. Phylogenesis is the result of years dedicated to crafting an exquisite record, and the band assures us that “this one is worth the wait.” The title stems from their band’s progress in juxtaposition with humanity’s regression.

Fans craving a sneak peek of the fifth album can check out the new single, “Hedonist,” below. The hard-hitting energy of the track sets the stage for what fans can expect from Abysmal Dawn, hitting in all right spots. The cacophony of intense drumming, sensational guitar riffs, and throated growling elicit feelings of paralyzation, and the lyrics in the chorus echo that sentiment: “imprisoned by the power of hope.”

Abysmal Dawn will be touring alongside Polish death metallers Vader, in addition to Italian brutal death metal group Hideous Divinity and Portland’s Vitriol. Tickets are available here.

The day before album release, Abysmal Dawn will host a free listening party on April 16 for fans in their hometown of Los Angeles. This event will allow fans a chance to win merch, an ESP Guitar and feature special guest MMA Fighter Josh Barnett.
