WSOU First Impressions: Polaris, The Death of Me

0

Seton Hall University’s WSOU radio is the only all-metal, all-the-time station currently broadcasting in the U.S., and has been a force in metal for decades. It’s also streamable online from anywhere in the world!

Each week, a different staff member of WSOU will share a quick review of an album they’re currently digging, right here on MetalSucks. Enjoy!

Polaris, The Death of Me

On their sophomore album, The Death of Me, Polaris remain true to their metalcore roots with an album even better than their 2017 debut. “Above My Head,” one of the album’s standout tracks, is a perfect example of how vocalists Jamie Hails and Jake Steinhauser blend various singing styles. The album takes a slower and cleaner sound on “Martyr” while “Landmine” is one of the heavier tracks on the album. “All Of This Is Fleeting” epitomizes the energy of The Death of Me, the perfect soundtrack to a high-energy mosh pit. The album succeeds where other metalcore efforts fail, offering a near-perfect blend of clean vocals and heavy guitars mixed with fast-paced screaming and stunning musicianship. I can 100% see The Death of Me propelling Polaris towards further fame and becoming a classic of the metalcore genre.
