Every Time I Die’s Next Album is “Fuckin’ Crazy,” “Wild,” “Dangerous,” Says Guitarist Andy Williams

Every Time I Die are known for putting out some of the most bombastic music in metal and only getting crazier with each record. Luckily, it sounds as if their upcoming record is sure to continue this pattern!

In this week’s episode of The MetalSucks Podcast, guitarist Andy Williams shared some details about how the writing process has differed from past records, with co-guitarist Jordan Buckley playing an increased role due to Williams’ busy wrestling schedule:

“Jordan Buckley always puts me over for my guitar playing and writing and stuff like that, but he has literally outdone himself on this record. It’s solely due to the fact that I’ve been the most busy human being since we started writing music for this. He literally is my left hand man, because I’m on stage right. He’s a saving grace to me. I know he subconsciously didn’t know that he would have to write a ton too, because we both write a ton of music.

“It’s one of those things where I’ll write a thousand riffs and two hundred of those riffs will get broken down and then 50 of those riffs will get broken down into songs and then 25 of those and then 15 of those. On this one, six ideas of mine turned into songs. I used every mental capacity to do those six songs. Jordan was like, ‘Oh, I got this guys, I got this, I got this, I got this, I got this.’ He just stepped up in such a way and it’s insane to me that he’s not going like, ‘Oh I can just do this myself.’”

Williams later continued by teasing just how off-the-rails the next Every Time I Die record is going to be:

Low Teens was a good record, but the shit we’re doing on this record is fuckin’ crazy. It’s wild. I probably have the same conversation about every one of our records, but this record is not like anything we’ve done before. We’ve taken so many chances. [Producer] Will [Putney] even said, ‘I want to get dangerous on this record.’ And we all kind of had that attitude of, ‘Let’s get fuckin’ dangerous.’ It’s crazy.

“When people hear it, it’s going to be like, ‘Oh, okay, I can really do something cool 22 years down the line.’ And that’s the thing. If you think about 22 years, we’ve seen so many bands come and go. So many great bands just come and go. We’re still there. Those bands that we looked up to now are like, ‘How the fuck are you guys doing this?’ And, I don’t know. Perseverance. We’re very stubborn people that have always persevered through bullshit.”

We’re excited for the release of the next album, whenever that may be.
