In the mood for some proggy, jazzy, black metal that feels like the aural equivalent of a decaying corpse? Well, good news, friend: Imperial Triumphant have released a new single! It’s called “City Swine.” It has all the semi-experimental musical putridity for which IT are known.

It also features drums by some guy named Tomas Haake. I assume he was a contest winner or something? So nice of Imperial Triumphant to give a fan the chance to do something that will live on forever. Haake is apparently in a pretty good band, too. I forget their name, but I think it’s something Yiddish. Punim? I think it’s Punim.

Check out “City Swine” below. Imperial Triumphant’s new album, Alphaville, which comes out July 31 via Century Media. I don’t know if the title means the band really likes the French New Wave or really appreciates German synth-pop, but you can pre-order it here.
