Dream Theater Post “Fatal Tragedy” Live Video from Distant Memories – Live in London
Did you catch Dream Theater performing their 1999 album, Scenes From a Memory, in full when they honored its 20th anniversary last year? It was fuckin’ fantastic! I’d been waiting for that moment basically since I first truly got into Dream Theater, right after that album was released.
The band will commemorate that occasion with a live release — their ninth (!) — Distant Memories – Live In London, which will be available in a number of configurations involving 3xCDs, 2xDVDs or 2xBlu-rays. The band played two sets, the first of which was a “greatest hits” overview and the second of which was Scenes from start to finish. And it’s from that second set, naturally, that today we get to watch “Fatal Tragedy.”
John Petrucci explains:
“Performing ‘SFAM’ live in its entirety 20 years after its initial release was a ton of fun for all of us. ‘Fatal Tragedy’ is one of the darker, heavier and more exciting songs on ‘Scenes’ and always gets an amazing response from our audience. It’s an important track because lyrically it helps to establish the story’s plot details while musically it showcases some of our favorite instrumental moments on the album,” explains John Petrucci.
