Amenra Post New Single, “De Evenmens,” Album Coming in June

Post-metal marauders Amenra put themselves firmly on the international metal map with their 2017 album, Mass VI, elevating their stature to a whole new level. Can the Belgian five-piece continue their hot streak now that everyone’s looking?

We’ll find out when their next album, De Doorn — the first to stray from the “Mass” title scheme — arrives in June, their debut for Relapse Records. “De Evenmens,” the album’s first single, arrived yesterday to give fans a taste of what’s in store, and it’s an eight-minute adventure full of the raging peaks and subdued valleys we’ve come to expect from these masters of dynamics.

Amenra vocalist Colin H. van Eeckhout comments of “De Evenmens:”

“We are only here for a split second in history. This song is about finding the answer within the question, man’s search for his place here on earth. A journey of sorrow with mere moments of beauty and happiness and this all in relation to his or her fellowman. To accept what is. Our brother Dehn Sora sculpted the digital world where Everman dwells, protected by its thorns, wounded by the others. Sacrificing blood of gold.”
