Gojira Land #1 Spot on ‘Top Album Sales’ Chart, #12 on Billboard 200

Gojira’s new album, Fortitude, sees the band achieving their best chart rankings to date, with a #1 spot on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart and #12 on the more-widely known Billboard 200.

What’s the difference between the two charts, you ask? The Top Album Sales chart tracks pure album sales only: physical, digital, and track equivalent albums (10 track sales = 1 album sale), while the Billboard 200 tracks all of those plus streaming equivalents.

Fortitude raked in roughly 24,000 in pure album sales while reaching 27,000 equivalent units once song streams are also factored in (1,500 song streams = 1 album sale).

DJ Khaled, who holds the #1 spot on the all-encompassing Billboard 200 with 94,000 in total activity, only moved 15,000 units in pure sales, by comparison.

Fortitude also landed at #1 on both the Hard Rock Albums and Top Rock Albums charts.

Congrats to Gojira for this incredible achievement!
