Video: Gojira’s Mario Duplantier Play Drums on Late Night with Seth Meyers

As previously reported, Gojira drummer Mario Duplantier is celebrating the release of the band’s new album, Fortitude, by sitting in with The 8G Band on Late Night with Seth Meyers this week. Which is a big deal! Other metal drummers, like  Tool’s Danny Carey, Deftones’ Abe Cunningham, and Mastodon’s Brann Dailor, have done residencies on the show, but I’d argue that Gojira is a) the heaviest of those bands and b) the least-well-known outside of the metalsphere. So it’s awesome to see Duplantier get this level of recognition (he certainly deserves it).

If you haven’t been watching Duplantier’s Late Night residency, fret not! We now have some video of the blessed event, courtesy of the drummer himself.

Fortitude is out now on Roadrunner.

In addition to an upcoming tour with Deftones and Poppy, Gojira just announced a U.S. headline run with Knocked Loose and Alien Weaponry. Dates are here.
