Song Premiere: Hannes Grossmann’s “In the Glacier’s Eye”

Hannes Grossmann, the former Obscura drummer and insanely talented multi-instrumentalist, has shared another track off his upcoming solo album, To Where the Light Retreats. And MetalSucks is honored to host the premiere!

Like the two tracks from the album we’ve heard thus far — “The Great Designer” and “The Sun Eaters” — Grossmann’s latest displays his otherworldly sensibility for what makes a catchy riff and a great song. The degree to which Grossmann easily dispenses of all the other try-hards in this genre is astounding… the dude just gets it!

He explains of “In the Glacier’s Eye:”

“The new album features my most melodic, heaviest material so far. Compared to my previous releases I focussed even more on straightforward songwriting than ever before.

“This song is probably one of the catchiest songs I’ve written so far. Still, you can clearly hear my signature. Hence I’m stoked to share this new single from my upcoming album with you all.”

Joining Grossman on the album are guitarist Danny Tunker (Alkaloid, ex-Aborted), bassist Linus Klausenitzer (Alkaloid, ex-Obscura), and vocalist V. Santura (Dark Fortress, Triptykon).

Listen to “In the Glacier’s Eye” below. To Where the Light Retreats comes out on June 1; pre-order here.
