Track Premiere: Abstracted, “Wither to Dust”

Consider that Brazilian death metal act Abstracted took their name from a song by Swedish melodic death metal greats Scar Symmetry. In contrast, consider that the band cite Necrophagist, Gojira, The Faceless, Between The Buried And Me, Death and Coroner as their biggest musical influences. Then attempt to hone in on their sound in your head… and you’ll still likely be off. We’ll give them “death metal” in some form or other, but that’s as far as we’re willing to go!

MetalSucks is pleased to premiere “Wither to Dust,” a brand new single the band will release officially tomorrow, June 22. In advance of the track’s debut to the world, MetalSucks readers who may have missed the band’s 2018 debut album Atma Conflux — along with fans of that record who have been waiting patiently for more music — get a taste of what the band has in store for the future.

The band explains:

“‘Wither to Dust’ is the second song of our new upcoming record. This song was written back in 2013. We recorded between 2018 and 2019 with producer Diego Castro, who has mixed and mastered our album.

“‘Wither to Dust’ talks about the moment when we are facing the fears, agony and the wounds that we carry in our life journey. Tibetan Buddhism and Gnosis are references that we approach in this song.

“The cover art made by the artist Fernando Kao brings the representations of this state between death and rebirth. The song is part of a concept story, narrating the path of the protagonist, showing his thoughts and experiences in this spiritual journey.”

“Wither to Dust” is a standalone single from Abstracted’s new album, due out later this year via M-Theory Audio. More details to be announced soon.
