Underoath Unveil Heavy New Track, “Damn Excuses”

Underoath have shared a new single called “Damn Excuses,” their first release since their 2018 album, Erase Me. Press copy says that the song “launches a brand new chapter in the band’s career,” and that it was self-recorded and produced at guitarist Tim McTague’s studio, Feral Sound, in Tampa, FL.

Keyboardist Chris Dudley states of the track

“This song came out of nowhere for us. In hindsight, it probably stems emotionally from the anxiousness that a year of isolation will give you, and that ‘wanting-to-explode’ feeling came out with zero effort. It was therapeutic. This is us ready to get back into a loud room with sweaty people and experience something real together.”

You can watch the video for “Damn Excuses” below. The band hasn’t yet announced a new album, although we’ll keep you posted if and when they do.

Underoath hosted a series of livestream performances last year titled Observatory that proved highly successful for the band.
