Creeping Death Unveil “The Edge of Existence,” Announce New EP

0

Coming in HOT with that Monday new track premiere (who needs Fridays? they’re stupid now anyway), OSDM revivalists Creeping Death are back with a brand new song and video, “The Edge of Existence,” and an EP announcement of the same name.

Unsurprising given Creeping Death’s budding reputation as worshippers at the altar of old school Swedish death metal, the new tune does just that. Also unsurprising given Creeping Death’s budding reputation as destroyers of everything in their path, it also does that! And with perhaps a little element of surprise, the band seems to have evolved: I hear as many elements of old school Slayer, swampy NOLA doom and ’90s beatdown hardcore here as I do the material Creeping Death cut their teeth on. Evolution is a good thing.

Guitarist Trey Pemberton explains of the EP and title track:

“We’re aren’t trying to be the most innovative death metal band. We just want to be heavy and fun. You’ll hear a natural progression from ‘Wretched Illusions’ to ‘The Edge Of Existence.’ And the next LP will be different, as well. Each release will be at least a little bit different from each other, but they will all still sound like Creeping Death. That’s who we are.”

“’The Edge Of Existence’ was the first of several new songs we’ve written since the onset of the pandemic. It begs that all too familiar question, ‘can people band together for a greater cause? Or will we continue to make the same mistakes until the end of civilization?’”

Have a listen to “The Edge of Existence” below via the appropriately fun video. The Edge Of Existence comes out on October 8 via Entertainment One; pre-order here.
