Alesana Tests Positive for COVID After Band Takes Anti-Vaxx Stance
North Carolina’s Alesana recently called off multiple shows because they don’t want their fans to have to prove they’ve been vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to gain admission:
“Alesana’s members have opinions on all sides of the spectrum when it comes to the pandemic, but we do agree that how every individual feels, and the decisions they make for themselves, are personal choices and it’s not our place to enforce penalties on people who choose one way or the other.”
Less than a week later, a member of the band’s “camp” (seems like an overstatement for a band of this size, but okay) has tested positive for the virus. As a result, they have now had to cancel even more shows.
But the money lost, the work done for no reason, the fans disappointed, and, of course, the health risks — it was all worth taking such a strong stance on such a bullshit issue, right?
Sigh.
Says the band in a statement:
“Hello everyone – unfortunately our camp was exposed and we experienced a positive test. This is obviously very disappointing news and means we have to postpone the remainder of our tour. Our number one priority at this point is getting rested and well. We will get the remaining dates rescheduled for some time in the future. We look forward to putting all of this in the rear view mirror and to getting back out on the road.”
I don’t like to say “I told you would this happen,” but fortunately, I don’t have to — Vince told you would this would happen. Now Alesana are just part of a steadily-growing list of artists who have called off shows or even entire tours due to someone in their ranks contracting COVID: Korn, the Foo Fighters, Buckcherry, Limp Bizkit, Wolfgang Van Halen’s Mammoth WVH, Iron Maiden’s Bruce Dickinson, Pop Evil, Intronaut, Eric Wagner’s The Skull… Who’s next? What fan isn’t at least a little nervous that the show about which they’re currently so excited won’t actually happen? What the hell is it gonna take for people to wake the fuck up and go get their shots already?
