Mash-up Alert: Nine Inch Nails + Hall & Oates, “I Can’t Get Closer for That”

Mash-up extraordinaire Bill McClintock, who has delighted us with distractions from work and entertainment on the can for years, is back with his latest cross-genre affair pitting seemingly disparate artists against one another, blending the instrumental track from Hall & Oates’ 1981 track “I Can’t Go For That (No Can Do)” with the Nine Inch Nails 1994 hit “Closer.”

Tonally and key-wise and all that, it’s perfect. Thematically, it’s so on-point it’s kinda hard to believe (I never looked closely at the lyrics for the Hall & Oates tracks before… it’s dark!). The best part: Trent Reznor crooning “help me!” over and over on top of a sax solo. Give it a spin below!

McClintock has previously brought us such gems as Slipknot + Evelyn King, Metallica + Steely Dan, Megadeth + The Jackson 5, Van Halen + Stevie Wonder and more. It’s almost like there’s a theme here.
