Black Label Society Lampoon Post Malone in New “End of Days” Video

Y’know how in superhero movies (and, uh, Trading Places, come to think of it) there are sometimes two good guys who don’t like one another and are maybe even actively trying to hurt each other, and then they realize there’s some greater threat out there, and they put aside their differences to take down said greater threat?

Well, the video for the new Black Label Society single, “End of Days,” is basically that, only instead of superheroes vs. supervillains, it ends up being budget restaurant mascots vs. millennial rappers with face tattoos.

I’m not the least bit surprised to learn that Zakk Wylde and company aren’t fans of the Post Malones of the world — Wylde once declared “I hate fucking rap music” (and the Freudian in me wonders if he doesn’t feel some resentment towards Andrew Watt, the producer now shared by Ozzy and Malone) — but I’m not sure why they went with restaurant mascots other than that it was cheap and funny. There’s a real DIY “Let’s put on a show!” quality to this video that I appreciate (they didn’t even print signs for the mascots to hold, opting to just write out the pertinent text instead). I highly recommend you watch the entire thing, because the very last shot is pretty goddamn funny.

As for the song… it’s kinda milquetoast. It could use a little more variance — some peaks and valleys — and a stronger hook. That’s my hot take, at least.

Watch the video below and see whatcha think. “End of Days” will appear on the new Black Label Society album, Doom Crew Inc., which comes out on November 26 via The Label Formerly Known as eOne. Pre-order it here.

Black Label Society will tour with Obituary and Prong in October and November, and then with Armored Saint and Prong in December. Scroll down for dates.

Meanwhile, we recently learned that Wylde will appear on every track of the new Ozzy album. So expect to hear lots more from Zakkarīya soon.
