Amon Amarth Return With Burly New Single “Put Your Back Into the Oar” via Epic Music Video

0

If you’ve ever been to an Amon Amarth show, you’ve noticed metalheads doing the Row. That’s when a group of fans sit down in a line and start up a rowing motion in unison, to mimic a crew of Viking warriors rowing a longboat. Well, Amon Amarth have noticed it, too, because they’ve decided to write a muscular-ass new song called “Put Your Back Into the Oar,” and have released it via a cinematic music video.

As you’ll hear below, the track is a classic mid-paced Amon Amarth cut, with a delicious stomping riff at its center and lyrics about rowing to the place beyond the waves for treasure and glory. The video, meanwhile, is every Amon Amarth fan’s dream — being an archeologist who studies Viking history, and then waking up one morning as part of a Viking war party. It’s equal parts huge nerd and warrior badass. We’re into it.

Say the band:

“We’ve been quiet over the last 2 years, but we’ve been at home in Sweden hard at work behind the scenes. Much has been said about fans coming to our shows to have fun and doing the ‘epic Viking row.’ Well we thought it was a good idea to write a song about it! This one is for you, the fans, wherever you are – and may Odin guide you as you row to your destiny in uncharted seas! Enjoy the song and video while we continue to work on a new album. We can’t wait to see all you heathens soon.”
