Megadeth and Lamb of God Team Up for Cover of “Wake Up Dead”

There are lots of things that don’t go together. Toothpaste and orange juice, oil and water, Machine Gun Kelly and listenable music — you know, that kind of stuff. But two things that DO go together are Lamb of God and Megadeth who teamed up for a cover of the 1986 Megadeth classic “Wake Up Dead.”

The song is performed by Lamb of God with Dave Mustaine adding guitar and vocal parts. The rest of Megadeth provides musical cameos as well in the track. The cover originally streamed on SiriusXM Liquid Metal with Jose Mangin yesterday, and dropped right before both Megadeth and Lamb of God set off to headline the second iteration of the Metal Tour of the Year.

It should be no surprise that this version of the song absolutely rips. After all, it this is Lamb of God and Megadeth we’re talking about. Is there a better way to kick off such a colossal tour than jamming together? Randy Blythe doesn’t think so:

“The first leg of the Metal Tour of the Year back in 2021 was a total blast, and we’re about to take it on the road again. What better way to kick it off than a little inter-band jam session? All nine members of Megadeth and Lamb of God are on the thrash classic ‘Wake Up Dead.’ Turn it up, and we’ll see you on the road!”
