Fires in the Distance Release Live Album and Video

0

Fires in the Distance just dropped a new album (well, technically a live version of an old album), Live at Telfunken, and shared a video for the track “The Lock and the Key” from the same performance. The album showcases the full performance of the band’s 2020, debut record, Echoes From Deep November—a record they obviously missed out on playing live following its initial release.

If you haven’t already heard this band, get familiar if you’re a fan of melodic death metal, doom, and the intersection thereof. Their sound manages to maintain a signature heaviness that still makes them appeal to die-hard death and doom fans, and the release will be out via Prosthetic Records.

The footage for the video was filmed by Patrick Fallon, and the audio for the video and album was produced by Dave Kaminsky.

Regarding the new live album and video, the band comment: “As a precursor for our sophomore release, we wanted to give Echoes from Deep November a proper send-off by releasing our Telefunken Sessions as a live album.  Fires in the Distance is a live band at heart. These sessions capture the yearning we had to play as a unit during the pandemic and the first collaboration with our new drummer, Jordan Rippe.”

Those stoked on the band’s first record should rejoice at the news. But if you’re bummed that this is just a live version of an existing album, don’t get down for long. They’re also putting out a second effort through Prosthetic that they claim they have already finished recording. More information about the release will be available in early 2023.

Live at Telefunken tracklist:
1. The Climb
2. Elusive Light
3. The Lock and the Key
4. Reflections in the Ice
5. Chained to the Earth
6. Sundial
