Kamelot Announce Their First New Album in Five Years, Drop Single “One More Flag in the Ground”

0

Symphonic metal band Kamelot have been teasing some new material for a few days now, and today they’ve finally let loose their latest release, with a new single titled “One More Flag in the Ground” to herald a brand new album coming out on March 17 titled The Awakening.

The new album will be released via Napalm Records and is the band’s first studio effort since their 2018 release The Shadow Theory. With a focus on continuing the band’s gothic, progressive, symphonic, and power metal sound, guitarist Thomas Youngblood said the new album was going to cover all of the band’s bases.

“With The Awakening, we have one of our most diverse albums in years. We’ve fused elements from progressive, power and gothic metal to symphonic and melodic metal on this one. Working with incredible guest artists from around the music industry and having producer Sascha Paeth and Jacob Hansen mixing gave us another step up on overall sound. This album offers everything to Kamelot fans and also reaches beyond borders to new metal and hard rock legions.”

As for the single and accompanying music video, vocalist Tommy Karevik suggested that both focused on fighting for your health. Which is pretty apropos, given the fact that we’re all still going through a major pandemic.

“The main focus on this video and song was to have a metaphor for the struggles of fighting disease or illness, whether it being physical or mental. Each step of healing and recovery is another Flag in the Ground. With every little step, one more victory won…”
