Is There a Scientific Reason Why We Love Metal? Insomnium’s Dr. Ville Friman Weighs In

0

We humans are complicated, weird, talking monkeys that morphed over millions of years to go from hunter-gatherers in the plains to TikTok surfing gremlins. That’s evolution, Holmes. As we adapted to our surroundings over the years, we gained new traits and skills that made us more the top of the food chain. But what evolutionary benefit do we get from heavy metal?

That’s the question we asked Dr. Ville Friman. While he’s known by many as the guitarist and clean vocalist for Insomnium, he’s also a distinguished scientist with a PhD in evolutionary ecology. So naturally, we asked one of the smartest dudes in metal why he thinks we all love the loud, heavy, and downright brutal tones that make heavy metal what it is today.

So check out the video below if you’d like to hear the answer from an actual scientist metal musician. And don’t forget to like, subscribe, and hit that notification bell to make sure you know when new the MetalSucks channel gets new metal-as-fuck videos for you eyeballs.
