Nita Strauss’ Newly Announced Solo Album Has a Who’s Who List of Vocalists Featured On It

She’s been slowly releasing information about her second solo album for a few months now with each single she’s released, but prominent guitarist Nita Strauss has finally unveiled detailed information about The Call Of The Void. Slated for release on July 7 via Sumerian Records, the album features some of rock and metal’s biggest vocalists.

In conjunction with the album announcement, Strauss dropped the album’s fifth single titled “The Golden Trail,” featuring In Flames’ Anders Fridén. It’s also the fourth different vocalist she’s already showcased in her lead up to today’s announcement, with previous singles featuring Disturbed’s David Draiman, Arch Enemy’s Alissa White-Gluz, and her ol’ pal Alice Cooper.

Other vocalists involved in the album include Motionless In White’s Chris Motionless, Halestorm’s Lzzy Hale, and Dorothy’s… Dorothy. Marty Friedman even got involved in the album’s closing track, which is sure to be an absolute shredfest.

Speaking of the album and its title, Strauss said the idea stems from the concept of those crazy intrusive thoughts we all get.

“Have you ever been at the top of a high building and had the fleeting thought, ‘… I could jump right now?’ This feeling is sometimes called ‘The Call of the Void,’ also known as ‘high place phenomenon.’ It’s not a suicidal impulse, rather the exact opposite — a subconscious decision to live your life, to step back from the ledge, and take control. As researcher April Smith aptly put it: ‘An urge to jump affirms the urge to live.’

“I wanted the follow up to Controlled Chaos to be exciting, new, and fresh, to take listeners to a new place and take myself somewhere new as an artist too. We have some amazing collaborations on this album with incredible musicians, as well as the instrumental guitar music that first inspired me to play.

“Some pieces of music come into the world gracefully and easily. This album is not one of them! The Call of the Void was born kicking and screaming, a labor of love for sure, but also of blood, sweat and plenty of tears. I couldn’t be more proud of the end result. Making this album helped me learn and grow so much as a musician and songwriter and I’m excited to finally unleash it on the world.”

Strauss has had one hell of a year thus far, having continued her working relationship with Cooper before hopping over to Demi Lovato’s camp to play on her most recent tour while continuing to promote her upcoming solo effort. She’s since rejoined Alice Cooper’s band on his current North American tour that will run until late September, but obviously the solo push continues.

As with any project featuring such a skilled and killer guitarist like Strauss, “The Golden Trail” is a ripper even before you consider Fridén’s involvement. Definitely check it out below.
