Metallica’s “You Must Burn!” Sounds Awesome in This New Pro-Shot Live Footage
It’s been almost a month Metallica‘s 72 Seasons dropped and it’s been two weeks since their massive M72 world tour kicked off, but the excitement around the biggest metal band in the world remains white hot. Over the last few days, Metallica’s camp has been slow dripping some high-def, pro-shot footage from their April 29 show in Amsterdam and yesterday, they uploaded another two live debuts from their new album: “72 Seasons” and one of the standout tracks from the album, “You Must Burn!”
Just as I imagined in my review, these new Metallica tracks just sound huge in a live setting. Now, I know these clips benefit from using the soundboard mix, so of course it’s going to sound good, but come on — those riffs are all James all day, man. Dude can still crank out a mean riff.
That being said, I personally think the star of that “You Must Burn!” clip is the backing vocals from Rob Trujillo. Coupled with Hetfield’s lead vocals, they both manage to nail that weird, Load/ReLoad-esque vocal harmony. It really works to great effect.
In addition to “You Must Burn!,” we also got their performance of the title track. It wasn’t the first time they’ve ever played it live though, so it’s not quite as exciting as the other one. Still, the guys sound great and that’s ultimately all that matters.
