A Crowdsurfing Accident Left a Security Guard Severely Injured at an Asking Alexandria Show

0

Accidents happen and unfortunately for a security guard working the Asking Alexandria show this past Tuesday, he ended up on the receiving end of some gnarly injuries as a result. The incident occurred at the Masonic Auditorium in Cleveland, Ohio when the guard in question was trying to catch a crowdsurfer.

Though the band said in a statement on social media that the venue was warned ahead of time that fans typically crowdsurf a lot during their set, they found that the venue was “unprepared and understaffed,” resulting in the guard falling while catching a fan and having very little backup.

Only two guards were assigned to the barricade at the time of the accident, which resulted in the unnamed man suffering five broken ribs and a collapsed lung. Fuckin’ ow…

“Regrettably we had an injury at the show last night.

“Despite the heads up that you guys crowd surf… a LOT, the venue was a little unprepared and understaffed. During ‘Let Go’ one of the two security guards assigned to barricade fell while catching a fan, breaking 5 ribs and suffering a collapsed lung. We stopped the show and waited for an ambulance to come as two amazing EMT fans quickly jumped over from the crowd to provide medical assistance. Thank you to them and the whole crowd for responding quickly and efficiently in getting out of the way so he could be safely removed from the venue and on his way to the hospital.

“It’s always hard to see someone get hurt at a show and we’ll be checking on his status over the coming days. Wishing him a full and fast recovery.”

Fans commented on the band’s statement on social media by offering an outpouring of well wishes and support for the injured security guard. As someone who’s had to help people get around with injuries to their core, I know how rough that guy’s recovery is going to be and wish him a speedy recovery.
