Luc Lemay Says Gorguts Will Begin Work on a New Album Soon

It’s been more than 10 years since Canadian death metal stalwarts Gorguts put out a new studio record, but that long wait could soon be over, according to frontman Luc Lemay.

During a recent interview with YouTube channel RichardMetalFan, Lemay shared his vision for the band’s next output and when things could start rolling on that new material.

“The new album, I’m gonna start working on this right after this tour. I took a long break from composition. My mind was just not into it. And I didn’t feel I had anything to say. But now I have a clearer vision of what I wanna do, so it will be an easier task to do.”

Gorguts haven’t put out music since the 2016 EP Pleiades’ Dust. Their last full-length album came out in 2013, titled Colored Sands. So to say fans have been waiting a while for new Gorguts music would be an understatement.

Yet with their return to the stage having taken place earlier this year during the Decibel Magazine Metal & Beer Fest in Philly, it seems the sleeping giant’s ready to tear some throats out. During that show in the City of Brotherly Love, their setlist included tracks from records like Obscura and Considered Dead, which was a treat in itself. But now it seems they’re going to be cooking up even more brutal classics.

The band also went on tour earlier this year with Cannibal Corpse, Mayhem, and Blood Incantation. And in addition to Gorguts, Lemay has been staying busy. He collaborated with the band Bloodbath on the track “Carved” from their Survival of the Sickest album.
