Megadeth Announces Latin American Tour While Mustaine Promises “Big Surprise” in Buenos Aires
If there’s one thing for certain, it’s that Megadeth is fucking huge in Latin America. From Mexico on down to the tip of Chile, there are tons of fans just itching to go nuts listening to Dave Mustaine and the guys rip through their set. Earlier today, those fans got some welcome news, as Megadeth announced a 10-date run through South America, Central America, and Mexico next April.
Kicking off on April 6 in Lima, Peru and coming to a close on April 27 in Monterrey, Mexico, the tour will hit pretty much all the key spots in that part of the region, including Santiago, Chile and Sao Paolo, Brazil.
In addition to the concert announcement, Mustaine announced that any fans that can attend the Buenos Aires show on April 13 will want to do so, as there will be a special something happening during that gig.
“April of 2024, Megadeth returns to South America to support our latest record, The Sick, The Dying, And The Dead!, and I always get excited because there is something truly different about South America.
“I don’t know what it is… but whatever IT is, they come by it naturally. We are also planning a really big surprise for where ‘Aguante Megadeth’ all started in Buenos Aires, too! So… if you can, DO NOT MISS THAT SHOW!”
For those not in the know, the “aguante Megadeth” chant happens during Symphony of Destruction during the parts between each line in the verse. The crowd chants “Megadeth… Megadeth… Aguante Megadeth” as the guitar parts play. From what I can tell, that all started back in 1994, so next year’s show would mark the 30th anniversary of that happening.
Tickets will go on sale for fan club members this Saturday at 10 a.m. local time, with the public sale kicking off at 10 a.m. local venue time on November 13. VIP packages and what not will also be available.
