Dolly Parton Rocked Out to Queen During Her Thanksgiving NFL Halftime Show

0

While most of us in the U.S. were gorging on turkey carcasses, far too many carbs, and uncounted piles of sweets, a nationally televised football game entertained the country. And in the middle of the Dallas Cowboys versus Washington Commanders game, country legend and newfound rocker Dolly Parton rocked us.

Seriously, on a scale from one to “Iron Butterfly,” the insanely popular country star kept it rockin’ at her halftime performance yesterday.

Even at 77, Parton is clearly not slowing down. Looking to promote her latest album Rockstar, which came out last week, she pulled out her covers of Queen’s “We Are The Champions” and “We Will Rock You” alongside her biggest hits “Jolene” and “9 to 5.”

Sure, there wasn’t any Sanguisugabogg in her set to please those of us with more extreme tastes, but this is probably as rock-and-roll as a half-time show featuring Dolly’s ever gonna get.

Normally you’d be able to watch the performance in an embed down below, but you’re just going to have to click on this link to go to the YouTube page, since it seems the NFL is almost as anti-consumer as baseball is, so you’re going to have to either click here or hit “Watch on YouTube” on the embed down below.

Escorted to the stage by Pro-Football Hall of Famer, former Indianapolis Colts quarterback, and Tennessee boy Peyton Manning, Dolly delivered a great performance, even if she was apparently dealing with some technical issues.

“I couldn’t hear because my sound went out and the stadium was so loud. But I was so honored to be here, and I love Peyton, I love the crowd. It’s just good to be home.”

Parton’s recent album features nine original songs and 21 covers, with some really amazing heavy guest stars including Rob Halford of Judas Priest and Mötley Crüe’s Nikki Sixx.
