The Video for thoughtcrimes’ “Rose Bather” Looks Like Waterboarding with Extra Steps

0

Mathcore band thoughtcrimes released their latest single “Rose Bather” earlier today and the music video that accompanies it sure looks uncomfortable as hell. I’m not sure if you should consider a woman duct taped from head to toe trying to get out of her restraints while in a tub of water not safe for work, but maybe don’t watch this with your boss lurking around.

Featuring ex-The Dillinger Escape Plan dummer Billy Rhymer, thoughtcrime’s latest track is a taste at some new music, having released their previous album Altered Pasts last August. There’s no news at the moment whether this song and their previous single “Natural Imprudence” are part of an as-of-yet unannounced album coming in 2024, but my money’s on that being exactly the case.

If you’ve ever heard of any of thoughtcrimes’ music before, you pretty much know what you’re getting into. Off-kilter rhythms, panic chords, dissonance, and soaring vocals from Rick Pepa. As one commenter on the outfit’s Bandcamp described the band, they sort of sound like Dillinger mixed with Deftones at times — which is particularly apt for this new single.

In addition to the new track, thoughtcrimes still have some live dates on the docket. You can find the full list of upcoming shows below.
