Mick Mars’ Video for “Right Side of Wrong” Has a Weird Spy Vs. Spy Vibe

Within the last hour, ex-Mötley Crüe guitarist Mick Mars dropped the second single off his forthcoming solo album The Other Side Of Mars, titled “Right Side Of Wrong.” This new track comes more than a month after the release of the guitarist’s first solo single, “Loyal to The Lie.”

As you’d expect, it’s a pretty solid rock tune. Mars did write some killer riffs in his time with the Crüe and it’s obvious that he’s no stranger to the concept in 2023. Describing the song’s theme as being about “the oxymoron of two individual minds viewing their position as the right one,” Mars said that the album’s focus is to have people hear his personal sound.

“I am what I am. Nobody else can do it. And like everyone, I’ve got a limited number of years. So, I’m gonna do all I can to do a lot of stuff.”

Mars was dropped from Mötley Crüe last year after he announced that he was done with the band’s live commitments, blaming a debilitating physical ailment that was causing great discomfort in his everyday life, but especially on the road. He was summarily replaced by John 5 and the band he helped put on the map moved on without him, sparking a lawsuit or two in the process.

According to the guitarist, his solo album’s doing to have plenty of ballsy riffs that he’s come to be known for over the last few decades, but it will also experiment with sound. When released this coming February, he said the album will see Mars “heading into new and uncharted territory, tearing through caustic, modern metal, conjuring gothic-tinged soundscapes, and digging into anguished, slow-burning power balladry alongside unspooling bluesy, cinematic instrumental workouts.”

In addition to his own playing, Mars recruited Winger and former Alice Cooper keyboardist Paul Taylor, vocalist Jacob Bunton, Korn drummer Ray Luzier, bassist Chris Collier and singer Brion Gamboa, who sang on two of the album’s songs that “required a little bit more of an angsty, desperation kind of thing.”

The Other Side Of Mars was produced by Michael Wagener, who both engineered and mixed Mötley Crüe’s 1981 debut Too Fast For Love. As mentioned before, the album will be available on February 23, 2024, but you can preorder your copy today.
